Shipping rates
Little big shop allows you to choose the following shipping options:
- Flat rate
- Price-based rate
- Free Shipping
- Weight-based rate
To start, you will need to add a shipping region. Read the help page Add new region to find out how.
We explore each shipping rate below.
Flat rate
This option allows you to charge a flat, or standard, rate for a customer’s entire order or product.
- Enter the delivery option name e.g. ‘Standard shipping’ or ‘Express shipping’
- Enter the estimated delivery time e.g. 5 business days. This will show the number of days customers can expect to wait to receive the shipment—this will also display on the checkout page for the customer.
- Enter the rate/cost for shipping
- You have the option to charge a flat rate per order or per item. Select which one by clicking the corresponding radio button
- If you select ‘Apply free shipping’, a field displays where you put in a dollar amount. e.g. Free shipping above $100.
- Once you add this option, a button will appear where you can ‘Add another delivery option’. Click this button if you wish to add extra shipping options such as ‘Express’.
- In the below example, there are two flat rate options: $10 flat rate for Standard shipping and a $20 flat rate for Express shipping
Price-based rate
Choosing a price-based rate calculates the shipping rate based on the total price of a customer’s order.
- Select the ‘Price-based rate’ radio button
- Enter the delivery option name e.g. ‘Standard shipping’ or ‘Express shipping’
- Enter the estimated delivery time e.g. 5 business days. This will show the number of days customers can expect to wait to receive the shipment—this will also display on the checkout page for the customer.
- Enter the dollar amount for the first range e.g. $0.00 to $50
- Then enter the shipping rate for that first range e.g. $10
- The next line auto populates the next range up, you just need to enter the shipping rate for the last range.
- If you need to add another price range, click the ‘Add range’ button. This will add another set of price ranges between the first and the last.
- If you select ‘Apply free shipping’, a field displays where you put in a dollar amount. e.g. Free shipping above $100.
Weight-based rate
This option calculates the total weight of all products in the customer’s shopping cart. Important note: you will need to ensure that all the products in your shop have a weight added to it, otherwise the product with no weight will not be included in the calculation.
- Select the ‘Weight-based rate’ radio button
- Enter the delivery option name e.g. ‘Standard shipping’ or ‘Express shipping’
- Enter the estimated delivery time e.g. 5 business days. This will show the number of days customers can expect to wait to receive the shipment—this will also display on the checkout page for the customer.
- Enter the weight amount for the first range e.g. 0.00 to 1kilo
- Then enter the shipping rate for that first range e.g. $10
- The next line auto populates the next range up, you just need to enter the shipping rate for the last range.
- If you need to add another weight range, click the ‘Add range’ button. This will add another set of weight ranges between the first and the last.
- You can select ‘Apply free shipping’. In this example, anyone who spends $100 or over in one transaction will automatically receive free shipping
Free Shipping
- Select the ‘Free shipping’ radio button
- Enter the delivery option name e.g. ‘Free shipping’
- Enter the estimated delivery time e.g. 5 business days. This will show the number of days customers can expect to wait to receive the shipment—this will also display on the checkout page for the customer.
- Enter the minimum amount the customer needs to spend in the field provided.
